You mean, no glaring across the ring, no adding another £20 to a beast at the last minute, no having a bidding war against someone you dislike, no helping a mate out to get a bit more money when you know who's going to get them knocked down to, no calling the auctioneer names when he misses your bid, What's the point in going :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Well I normally rock up late snd get there just as the lot I want walks in .. make eye contact with no one, buy what I want and leave again and most importantly pay before I load up [emoji23] don’t understand folk who bid on things they don’t even want purely too make sure the fella other side the ring doesn’t get a bargain..

Its purely greed - not necessarily good business sense

Some would do well to remember it’s an auction and anyone can bid at anything they please.
No one forces them to bid so no need to take the huff or get stroppy.
I find if you are a good judge of value it seems to pee some off completely
To right, i dont stand for anyone and anyone is free to bid against me even if its only to drive the price up.If i stop and they get stuck with it then tough. Anybody who gets pressured to not bid against someone is weak, its dog eat dog in auctions. Set your limits and stick to them, the money will not hurt left in the bank for another day and the other buyers can only buy so much for so long.

It depends on wether the fella opposite is a pillock who runs you on purpose too... 😉

I can play silly buggers too!

Remember this is the same man that finished your market Carlisle as a fat cattle market years ago doing what he does
If you read on a bit I wasn’t defending his actions. I was directing what I said towards the general bitching and such as that goes on.
Intimidation some may call it.
When I sold fat cattle at Carlisle in the 90s I remembered it wasn’t just him that could get the blame. There were others I would think of first actually. Non payers and such like. Then there was a good lad who knows cattle better than most left and took most of the fat cattle trade with him as he was well thought of. Then that happened again with another one. Think about where these beast go now. Mainly dw. Even the mart itself sends them dw and they will pay for the beast until you sell them dead in some cases, as long as you send them that way.
Maybe he had his part in it but there were many other parts to this story too.
Can’t point that finger 100% in his direction
Even if you did it could have been stopped before it was
Sometimes it’s too easy for a mart to favour one buyer. Makes them lazy and does no good in the long run. Most marts do it too

Good hoggs good trade well done!!
(Better not let the keep boys get hold of this)
Luckily all my keep men know I take lots of rough with the smooth. They all think I’m barmy when we are out fencing or handling sheep on Sunday afternoons. Or still ferrying sheep about after 7pm! I’ve told them I’m paying bonus this year too those that deserve it. This should keep them happy!😉

Same at Dolgellau store sale today, cattle get smaller each sale but the price tag gets bigger. Managed to buy 20 charolais steers to make up the numbers for the summer grazing, averaged 255p/kg. Big premiums on organic stores, especially the stronger ones. A bunch of 600kg organic welsh black steers made £1500
