Well if we are think the same person who's fairly close to me? We us to send everything to him but when abp went digital weigh that didn't work for the cattle we had at the time so started sending them Hatherleigh well has time wnt on decided to try cows that way and they was a lot better especially for the plainer sorts.......pickstocks They are normally 5-10 p better but you need that to get them up there..... But I would never go back just I got I didn't like what was going on and sticking old girls that had been good to us on a lorry for bout 5 hours. Now I take them in to Hatherleigh in 25 minutes and job is done.

Rumours last week that the beef price was going to drop abit and firms couldnt sell the beef but im not so sure tbh, i think they are just desperate to keep a lid on price. Drought was there only hope but theres a fair drop of rain about next week and with covid pretty bad still abroad, most people will be staying in this country and spending a abit more on treats etc so it should remain strong.
Was speaking to a rep.who said there's talk of cattle at £4.50 in the summer up here.

Remember the deductions only look big when the prices we are getting are good.
It would be worth getting you up here and watching you perform a deal for these sheep on farm with some of the buyers
Once you have secured a price at least as good then you would need to guarantee actually getting paid.
If you can do this and if you are as good as you say you are we don’t need to send anything to the mart and pay expensive commission and off takes
The only thing I don’t agree with is the MLC levy as I don’t know what it is I’m paying for.
Im told its marketing but as a member of the general public and a buyer of beef and lamb not seeing any advertisements for either makes me disagree with it.
I don’t have any qualms about the rest and I’m a tight arse
Not disagreeing with most of that and wasn't trying to have a go, but just noticing how much below the headline price net returns actually are at present.

No offence intended towards you either.
What I’m getting at is there’s sometimes more to it than meets the eye. A mart office and be a particularly difficult place at times. Often a lot going on that folks don’t see

It's not always about the money I agree.

Dovecote -5p putting the blame on the food service industry which probably can be understood but if that’s the case other plants should be killing more so hence price should go up more

Commission is very cheap in comparison to advertising and debt collecting, farmers have been in the large shielded from reality for generations and now they have no clue what goes on on real life .
