If you have a field of grass to turn them into i would farm them on perhaps until just before the pmt runs out, they will be costly to replace and whatever you buy probably will not earn you as much as keeping what you already have abit longer. That said if you want to clear the OD , fair enough cash them.

Hereford on thursday had a bunch of 350kg black hereford steers make £990, they were outliers too. Im not up with organic trade tho

Last I heard it was 45ppk up on cov but that was some time ago

MQ report on organic cattle but i dont think many get traded, most are sent direct from holding of birth. The odd few i see in markets end up being bought to go with conventional feeders and not at any premium

We took our first lambs to mkt. today 38kg tups at £99, four 37kg ewe lambs at £95.50 and a tup lamb by a neighbour's breaking tup lamb 44kg £108. Pleased with that,all singles texel or meatlinc X and an occasional suffX Welsh, grass fed
Spoke to Dunbia agent tonight who admitted that they sold better than £5.30 dwt.

Think we'll have a hard time keeping that average up!

People are more on the ball now than 20 years ago when it took a week to know what the trade was like. Everyone can stop drawing for a week, let the lambs get bigger and the price jump back up. Especially this year when there is maintains of grass about.

Yes. I would think the Abattoirs will be well up on the list to sell off unfortunately. Bought by the very firm Potts used to work for. What a plant, a couple of years to properly get a handle on what’s what then sell it down the river
