i like selling as stores works well for me, theres people around me with the hoppers out for months throwing feed in them like no tomorrow, pretty sure they dont cost it.
I know one in northern England too… obsessed with his Hogg hoppers. I’ve heard he’s setting some up so the blower lorry can fill them straight up off the road…

It’s just a rumour though, you’ll never know because he’s very secretive about his location!! Just google earth the region you think most likely an look for brown muddy circles an we might find a location!! 🤷‍♂️

If I could find out where the heck he is I’d nip up of a night time and bag a ruck of lamb nuts up out of the hoppers!! He wouldn’t miss 5 tonne…

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 9,262 sheep comprising of 4,335 spring lambs and 4,927 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 9th September 2021.

A much larger show of 4,335 new season spring lambs were forward to the same ring of competitive purchasers. A two tier trade was to follow, with well finished lambs in full cry whilst leaner types would be better marketed in the store market here on a Tuesday.

Top price per kilo of 345p achieved for Beltex lambs shown by TR & EA Milburn & Son, Wallend, Carlisle.

Top price per head of £182 for a Texel lamb consigned by AM & L Sutherland, Carran, Thurso.

All classes of well finished prime lambs are keenly sought after on a weekly basis to satisfy an ever-growing customer base here at Longtown. For further enquiries please contact our auctioneers, who will be pleased to take your calls.

A larger show of 4,927 ewes were forward to the usual busy ring of buyers. The best quality and heavy ewes continued to sell at extreme rates with these being short of requirements. Lean horned ewes were forward in greater numbers and would be slightly easier on the week.

Heavy ewes topped at £210 for Texel ewes consigned by J Stephenson & Sons, West Millhills, Hexham.

Mule ewes topped at £126 from T Hill & R Wright, Mill Farm, Doncaster.

Hill ewes sold to £117 for Cheviot ewes from J Common & Son, Crossdykes, Lockerbie.

Rams to £210 for Texels from Beckfoot.

Bentham Wednesday. From what I saw if it was meat it was a real trade. And the ewes seemed dearer the thinner they were!

Stasaph today, where they do grade the lambs and "reject" any not finished well enough
Heavy well finished tup lambs selling better than females today I thought, just managed to average over £100 in September so can't complain I suppose, I'll have to get females over 42kg from now on though
