Why have ewes got so dear again all of a sudden.
Domestic markets aren’t suffering I don’t think, it’s the export that’s affecting trade. That’s why heavies aren’t doing aswell.
saw a guy sell 100 50kg lambs last week and thought he’d have made £5 more and saved himself a lot of feed costs if he sold them at Christmas.

Yes they would have made more a month ago put hindsight is a wonderful think, 4 or 5 weeks ago heavy weight was were the big money was.
Cheap fodder will help the trade on weanlings/cattle

Which is exactly why there are too many for demand now. It’s always a small market and easily overwhelmed.
Just wait til April, after last year’s good go on big hoggs…. as happens every time.

Had 100 the lambs away Christmas week averaged around £130
left 48 in a field and went back for them on Thursday....... fortunately they had run out of grass and were lighter than they were 3 weeks earlier 
Getting them started on feed now along with some in the shed and a few April ones left running £150 here I come

There would be a hell of a lot of lambs put in on feed 6-8weeks ago and they have to go regardless. Lambs have got big this backend too which has put plenty of meat on sale last month or two.

yes lambs will be fine come march-april easter demand ,and heavies / ewes end of ramadan , Eid al-Fitr may 2nd (ramadan for fasting april 2- may 2)

You'd better hope our Muslim friends are hungry. Several supermarkets aren't going to be buying as they've already secured them as stores in the Autumn and contract rearing...
I still think it won't be the flier a lot seem to be counting on.

You can buy a blend locally beet pulp, distillers grains and barley for £270 that meets spec

Well no one stood there and forced people too give over £100 for medium term stores. We all know the risks so have too take what comes.

Peaks and troughs are never repeated the next year. Everyone will be selling before Xmas this year for fear of missing out, then there will be a good hog trade early ‘23.
Would Nice to think that 2.60 is the new bottom trade for this year though .
