I was quite happy, they were a touch more than i got for the ones straight off their mothers in november but these were just that touch later born and werent good enough then. Yes my cattle are normally very uniform and can batch them up nicely. Think i had a pen of 8 black heifers in october at the first suckler sale. Just wish i could get them a bit taller for their age, (its the hairy cow in them) 🙄 they seam to do ok for folk as same man buys them every year.
The pen of 4 red heifers? think I've had the odd one off you in the past.

The new (well relitavely new) 'export arrangement' between Lincolnshire and Lancashire works very well 👍

Before covid I'd only ever not seen anything of ours sold once (had to get home to go to a wedding). But drop and go during covid has broken the 'habit'.

It's interesting to see how many Lincolnshire addresses appear in the Bentham reports nowadays 🙂

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their weekly sale of prime sheep on Tuesday night, when 3,717 sheep were forward consisting of 3,128 prime hoggs and 589 cast sheep.

Another flying trade was witnessed here at Kirkby Stephen for all classes and Kirkby Stephen bucked the national trend once again with an SQQ average of 294.5p/kg and an overall sale average of 284.2p/kg and £123.62 for 3128 hoggs which included over 900 horned and mule hoggs.

Several fresh vendors from east and west took advantage of the competitive bidding between our 15 active buyers supplying 31 different outlets and the premiums that can be achieved for all classes of prime sheep here at Kirkby Stephen on a weekly basis.

10 different leading consignments averaged between £150-£157
1003 Beltex cross hoggs sold to average 340p/kg

Cast sheep topped at £182.50 for Texel cross ewes from Messrs Dixon, Hartley Castle.

Rough fell ewes topped at £112.50 from Messrs Beck, Tebay.

Topping the sale at £178.50 were a pen of five 44kg Beltex cross hoggs from Messrs Hunter, Upper Brydekirk, Annan.
Topping at 431.3p were a pen of three 40kg Beltex cross hoggs which made £172.50 and were consigned by Jojo Andrews, Boscar Flats, York.
