I’ve known a few markers go on and buy them as well.I once seen a fella at a mart flatten someone marking teeth up hoggs and sprayed him down his back
Yes only pay you cull ewe price so I’d start checking from now on, markets probably won’t start checking for another ten daysDo deadweight outlets say anything about teeth or not?
Cull ewe price is more these daysYes only pay you cull ewe price so I’d start checking from now on, markets probably won’t start checking for another ten days
They keep saying the national flock is getting less but there’s Still far too many sheep about!1:15am they reckon the last went through.
Fert price might correct thatThey keep saying the national flock is getting less but there’s Still far too many sheep about!
If we all kept 10-15% less we would probably still be better off With the increase in price and less work. Surprising how many less problems there is when there not as thick on the ground.Fert price might correct that
Perhaps the lambs sold are bigger weights on average so the tonsThey keep saying the national flock is getting less but there’s Still far too many sheep about!
Less is more, certainly the way we wii go if inputs prices don’t ease by the autumnIf we all kept 10-15% less we would probably still be better off With the increase in price and less work. Surprising how many less problems there is when there not as thick on the ground.
Be interesting too know how much less sheep meat as a while the country would produce if everyone sold there lambs at 40kg instead of the “weight pays” men doing 50-60kgPerhaps the lambs sold are bigger weights on average so the tons
of sheep meat produced makes the reduction in numbers less of an issue.
the whole weight thing is a scam like the teeth issue , yellow hoggs are the ones in demand in mart , yet selling deadweight blues is what they want and only upto 45kg , yet they wont bid up when they have to buy live for blue 44kg lambs . there has never been a clear indication of what is required, or a price differential to match , so you just as well turn out heavy yellow hoggs for liveweight , generally the price will cover your cost even though ppk is carp .than produce market spec lambs hit the wrong week and get hammered , (there is always an excuse, strength of £, abbatoir issues , green men with pointy hats at the border, )Be interesting too know how much less sheep meat as a while the country would produce if everyone sold there lambs at 40kg instead of the “weight pays” men doing 50-60kg
Bloke who does my scanning used to keep 1100 ewes few yrs ago cut them back to 800 & reakoned he's far better off financially now. Some people just can't help it though, I know a few round us if they kept half the amount & looked after them I'm sure they'd be far better off but like I said some people just push push push & end up being very busy I must admit I've been guilty of this in the past but as I'm getting older I'm wising up slowlyIf we all kept 10-15% less we would probably still be better off With the increase in price and less work. Get you with your 40kg lambs! Think I’ve only averaged 40kg+ Twice since SeptemberBe interesting too know how much less sheep meat as a while the country would produce if everyone sold there lambs at 40kg instead of the “weight pays” men doing 50-60kg
Agree, If everyone (else) kept 10-15% less id be better off!If we all kept 10-15% less we would probably still be better off With the increase in price and less work. Surprising how many less problems there is when there not as thick on the ground.
