when the big lad bought em he was sh!ting himself coming home! i went out to look on crutches to have a look and told him when there dear buy good! after weighing them on saturday im well pleased , i thought they were christmas cattle therll be gone bye the end of harvest.I was up at his place last weekend. Christ the bull they are by has grown into a real muscle machine!Definitely a bit of green eyed bull envy going on!!

Far too many people are making a serious amount of Ā£Ā£Ā£ out of TB!
The only people that TB is costing an absolute fortune to both in Ā£Ā£ and mental health is the poor cattle farmers!
Deal with the problem in the wildlife and their will not be a TB problem in cattle!
Utter utter disgrace that we are at the point we are over the TB issue!
Be bad enough on a yearly test when you are in a TB area never mind when there's none for 100 miles

When I was at uni I got sent too the British Cattle Breeders Conference for an essay on beef breeding Iād written. Was sat at the table with some big knobs who I hadnāt a clue who they were. (The beef dinner we had was too die for, the waiter just kept coming back with more beef and yorkshires!) We started on about TB and I chirped up it was all a massive con and the whole country should be on 12 monthly, dropping too 6 within so far of a breakdown. Made a comment along the lines of āthem in charge of it all couldnāt find their arses with both hands and an atlasā lad next too me kicked my shin and whispered āeasy!!!!ā The woman sat across from me had a face on her like a bulldog chewing a thistle. Didnāt speak too me the rest of the meal. Turns out it was Christianne Glossop!

Anyone worked put what it costs in fertiliser and diesel to fill a silage pit, compared to last year?

Yearly?! I lie awake at night dreaming of being on a yearly TB test!! Been 6 months here for the last 10 years! And 1/2 mile as the crow flies is Greater Manchester which is TB4!!!
I was hoping someone would answer the number of fillet steaks as I remember not getting many.

Last time I had one done I seem to remember we got 12 fillet steaks and 2 pieces of fillet too thin too steak from a whole beast 285kg dw. But just right too wrap in pastry, good rub of whole grain mustard and stick in the bottom oven for hours!
its nice to look at somthing good in a morning when your feeding even better when there should be a margin in them!Iāll pass on how well they are doing!

Also depends how thick you cut them. I like fillet steak 1 1/2 inch thick, cooks beautiful then

The breakdown buggered the system up but got it back now so we test early March before turn out and late summer when the first lot of calves want weaning.
i wish they would get thier act in to gear . we dont graze , everythng sold dw , we keep being drawn into radial tests ,waste of time and money!

Iāve a mate the same, 350 head, nothing over 18 months old. All inside, all on the DW job. Dairy farms around him keep going down so he keeps having too test
