The heat and no wind didn't kill those cattle. Being locked in a feed lot without appropriate shade did.


Current estimates are 10,000 head of cattle across the state. Let that number sink in. No wonder there is such anti meat feeling.

As the first cattle started to die did they stand and watch the rest die or did they shoot them? Can't see them shooting in a packed corral so the animals must have suffered some, wonder why the risk of this happening wasn't anticipated and addressed.... isn't Kansas a hot state ?

Here's the graph I found online. These temperatures are higher than usual, but not unprecedented. However from the article I believe it was the combination of heat and humidity (brought on by lack of wind).
