I gave up with that lotIf you had a farm, bought and paid for, big enough that you could run 300 ewes on for a pittance with only a dog and stick, then you would indeed be a millionaire...

Lairg ? up in your neck of the woods. Ross Bros still bring a few down to St Boswells. I dont know why the North Cheviot men dont go back to the Border. Make more money than a Cheviot Mule and twice the sheep. Ewe lambs averaged over £200 last two years. And where you going to find decent Half Breds nowadays?
But you don't give luck, unless you have finally got round to giving that lad some£200 now to sell three good cattle in the store, and then some luck to give out as well.
Asset rich and cash poor, as my bank manager described us when we moved from rented to owning some.Doesn't take all that much land to be worth £1m
At least you will own something at the end rather than lining a landowners pocketAsset rich and cash poor, as my bank manager described us when we moved from rented to owning some.
Trouble is not really asset rich til the mortgage is paid, and then I'll be well and truly passed it
No Half breds at Lairg. Would have been Quoybrae, Caithness. There are very few left breeding proper HalfBreds now off park Cheviots. Most last August sale would have gone to Ross 's or Sleigh's. Most folks seem to think they are too big. Probably things will go full circle, but there are not that many true Park Cheviots to breed them from left. BL on to Hill Cheviot just don't work.Lairg ? up in your neck of the woods. Ross Bros still bring a few down to St Boswells. I dont know why the North Cheviot men dont go back to the Border. How old are you son ? I was washing and selling dairy cattle and giving out luck at Carlisle before you were born. £5 in the £100 in those days. But you don't give luck, unless you have finally got round to giving that lad some
