Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

I had 3 store cattle in and looked across at them in the pens. They were big strong heifers and would have made £1800-£1900 in the store ring easily if not in calf. Both big Stores and Weaners seemed to be on fire. I had a home bred Lim x steer in,bottle fed as a calf as the mother wouldnt let it suck,so a bit small but tidy type made £1600. Two British Friesian steers in,one last week at £1440,and another on Wednesday at £1310. I paid £290 for them out of the weaners ring about 18 months ago. They were never housed until last month.

I guess it makes up for the downside of things. Lost two cows to staggers middle of December. My own fault, saved the last field of grass up to shorten the Winter, but too leafy and wet, plus sh!t weather.Tri Mag buckets available and definitely saw one at the buckets but still succumbed. Both cows were the last calved in the Autumn.
Judging by those prices they were still good cattle. We have some that are good enough types but still looking a bit weathered and very store looking in condition. They have been eating silage like it was going out of fashion they have just eased off last week been dosed I’m assuming they are building some condition they usually do from inside themselves first before you see it on the outside

Pie in the sky the government can afford to cough up if we all took everything on offer. They will help finish uk ag and then use the excuse we cannot produce enough food to buy in imports. Made my mind up im not signing up to anything, im not inviting more regulation on myself . Firms doing all the testing and ppwork licking there lips at all the work, Sod that.
They can stick these daft half baked schemes where the sun doesn’t shine! I’m having nothing to do with them a will paddle my own canoe from now on.
