There were 850 nearly all suckler bred U grade cattle and the buyers come from all over the country for them, though a large percentage would have stayed in Wales. It can’t be compared with markets like Shrewsbury or Drayton. I think you would be disappointed if you took dairy bred cattle to a Welshpool catalogue sale, the buyers aren’t there for those sorts.

Only kidding. My sheep man buys from there, and he only wants sucker bred cattle. Hope the heifers have settled in ok.

What sort of weights were they?

Would need to be 500-550kg to make that up here

There was some shocking prices at frome yesterday

Pigs were making £1 some £7

Bucket calves; I seen some make £7.50

Honestly awful prices

Yes, settled and eating well, they’re a good level bunch. They look nice in the shed all the same colour, there’s usually a bit of a mix.

Yesterday's trade in oswestry.
Calfs were in demand as only 15 or so in. Mine were 3-5 wk old, out of friesians.

tegs averaged 189ppk or £85.93/head.
In the interest of clarity, with the levy, tolls and commission off they averaged £81.25.
