home and dry looking better by the day , pig / poultry boys must be getting twitchy
Spoke to an egg producer at weekend. He said feed price does not affect him at all as his contract dictates that his egg buyer pays a price which tracks the feed price. He says he gets a payment every Friday morning and is doing very well. Also has plenty hen muck to replace expensive fertiliser for his other enterprises.

I wonder if anyone is paying this £680/ton for fertiliser 🤔
Dairy fellas will likely pay it.

Talk is Fert will get to £1000 ton by spring..

Very few will buy it at that price even for grain/maize crops!

On the cattle job, plenty of talk at the weekend of prime cattle numbers being low for the time of year but farmers struggling to get them gone due to staff shortages on the lines, several people i spoke to had cattle booked in the previous week or so only for the loads to be cancelled and rebooked for 7/10 days later at the earliest!

A neighbour been to Bakewell told me HF sent plenty of lambs to feed. He will do if the store prices quoted are a reflection of the trade.
Anything not quite finished off will always go too him and back too Wheaton Aston too have a belly full of corn out of a hopper or a month or 2 on turnips and then he will buy them back again at Bakewell for his abbotair contracts for top dollar 💵

I think the Fert price now is due to politics, the UK Gov do not want UK farmers using Fert in any shape or form so i suspect in exchange for the Fert company's being bailed out with taxpayers money they have been encouraged shall we say!! to increase the price of Fert to such stupid high prices.

Strange how nothing else but Fert has risen in price the last few weeks by 300% on prices a year ago!
