They arrive at mart 8-10am. Usually arrive at my end by 10am the following day. So allow 2 hours previous for gathering/carting too mart = 28 hours ish. But some of them I’m sure have been gathered on bare pasture at least 1 day before the sale. They look blooming empty. Little lambs don’t stand that well. It’s why when they arrive here we put them on the isolation fields with a touch of grass, salt licks and mineral/feed blocks everywhere. Just let them settle and gather themselves for a couple of days. Then gather and set too dosing.
it’s amazing how well they look after a right good drink, nice nibble & a days rest.
How do you manage with scab risk?

It’s the handling systems is the problem I would have thought, infected stock and non dipped animals using the same system or would you leave a system 3 weeks 🤷🏻‍♂️

We have a couple of handling systems. One for non dipped sheep one for clean. Both bought with help from the grants. When we had one it used to be a problem. We just wait to gather a big enough group to dip.

I think I’d rather have my money in sheep than the stock market mind!
Saying that house prices locally have risen 20% in 12 months for a small town house!
I was thinking along these lines the other day.....private money should really be invested in cows/sheep.....let the business stand the expenses/costs and claim a big profit in 12 months👍 (if they dont die😂)

Once they’ve been dipped they move onto the next piece of ground, won’t go back too that handling set up. It’s an old permanent one, once the seasons over it gets sprayed down. Then left sheep free for a few months.

Guess your in trouble then 😂😂
I meant everybody! Not just us! 😂

Although for the benefit of the tax inspector reading this. 95% of my sheep come from north of the border. As I have stated before, the farmers up there run away if you mention luck money!
So I think I’m pretty safe there!
The NEMSA mule buyers who get upwards of 30% back on fancy pens… now then. 😂😂
