FATSTOCK MARKET – MONDAY 22nd NOVEMBER - RED MARKET


York Auction Centre had 483 head of stock forward including 222 Cattle, 153 Sheep and 108 pigs at their weekly sale of Prime stock.


A few more clean and a fraction fewer bulls, with an increased trade all round. A better quality show of bulls, with more fleshed black and whites and more continental bulls forward, black and whites averaged 202.17p/kg and continentals averaged 238.5p/kg.

Top price per kilo was for Limousin from S Beachell & Son weighing 582kg at 279p/kg.

Black and whites topped at 229p/kg from JA Gibson & Son, weighing 574kg.


Well fleshed clean were excellent to sell with 8 over 300p/kg, topping at 308p/kg for 2 heifers from D C Nesom & Son and W & L Thompson. The top price steer was a Limousin from L Dale & Son at 303p/kg, weighing 604kg.

Lean cattle are still hard to sell, and cows are good to sell.
