Yeah, that’s when they all go on the 14 acre above the farm with the hoppers! Try and lessen them severely before then!!Were you not selling quite a few in May last year
There was more in than normal perhaps didn't help.Yes 5 steers not quite as good cattle as last week trade maybe not as hot either
I like to have 99% of my lambs gone by tupping. Like you say good job we’re not all doing the same thing.Good job we’re all different! I like too have 1000 hoggs left as we start lambing. But none of them will be at home bar the few strugs.
Agreed .Yes I think knowing weight helps with some men definitely!
If another none job tells me I should be cutting costs again I will break his feking nose ! I’m sick of listening to that bull sh!t .If they think lamb is too dear maybe they should cut their costs, that’s what they’ve been telling us for years
Yes. Some people should think before they make these comments in various publicationsIf another none job tells me I should be cutting costs again I will break his feking nose ! I’m sick of listening to that bull sh!t .
It would be nice to think we could cut some costs and keep the money saved ourselves. Tesco et Al have a big enough slice of the pie as it is.If another none job tells me I should be cutting costs again I will break his feking nose ! I’m sick of listening to that bull sh!t .

I fully get your point livestock1 maybe not ideal, but maybe if more of us stood up for ourselves and others in the industry once in a while, and made these "none jobs" realise us lads, deserve a bit more gratitude and that they only have a job criticising and pointing the finger because we put our neck on the line.Yes. Some people should think before they make these comments in various publications
I think that was quite prominent in the Tesco cop groupTo be fair, there are plenty in the industry that are running some very high cost systems. For every flock with above average profitability, there’s another that’s below average…… and the average isn’t a great figure.
Lack of imagination , lazy thinking .Yes. Some people should think before they make these comments in various publications
OmgAs someone who was in that initial Tesco COP contract,my main reason for leaving was it was totally skewed mostly by the fact that the top 33% which they kept quoting has zero land charge on their COP and the guys running the costing couldn’t get their head around the fact that an owner occupier with no mortgage was bound to be quids ahead!
Their costing team couldn't have been very sharp. If they own a store but decide not to operate it then someone would pay to rent it from them. Same applies, opportunity cost!As someone who was in that initial Tesco COP contract,my main reason for leaving was it was totally skewed mostly by the fact that the top 33% which they kept quoting has zero land charge on their COP and the guys running the costing couldn’t get their head around the fact that an owner occupier with no mortgage was bound to be quids ahead!
Yes, who wants to run about like an idiot using crap old tackle! Oh, hold on...The Tesco contract is COP based. I was told a Tesco executive, whilst discussing COP figures, was telling the farmers’ committee members that there was no reason why farmers shouldn’t be running old tractors. He was apparently asked why he had a new BMW parked outside.
