Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

I try too leave my sheep alone when it’s like this but had a ride round them this morning and there’s not much space under the hedges 🤦‍♂️ Glad there’s not much behind electric atm
I have a fair few outside got a few in though luckily
Turned some cows and calves out was a bit of a concern last night but ok this morning
You are right to leave them in shelter

Next door to me are laming out at 900 feet in exposed 40 acre arable fields with six meter margins, poor buggers. :(
Think I’d be out there with as many square bales of straw as I could find making Gale breaks for them to get behind !

Thankfully I finished lambing a month ago but nothing does in this weather they won’t grow or milk laying under the hedge bottom… tends to be when they prun all the hedges back too and find any gaps 🤦‍♂️

Hearing today that one deadweight company are paying near £4.60 a kilo base for clean cattle if pushed a shade, said company is also expecting clean to be £5 a kilo within a matter of weeks.

Even at £5 it will not now be enough to keep farmers producing clean beef with the way feed/ input prices are going!
Are you going to hold all your cattle back until they get to over £6 a kilo or more or are you just not restocking????

Sounds like you Northern guys are having a rough time of it. Wet and windy overnight here in North Devon but dry this morning albeit still windy. Ewes nearly done and Ewe hoggs about to start. April can be a cruel month sometimes.

Dearest I've ever seen ewes at Longtown, worse ewes than last week and made 10 a head more!
Now is always a dear time too sell cull ewes… early lambing men haven’t weaned yet and everything’s walking round with a lamb next too it… late lambing men have scanned and culled so all they’re left with is stuff that’s due too lamb… only people
Really selling cull ewes now are odds and sods that have aborted, not taken lambs and people who make a business out of buying cull ewes at the lows too sell at the highs
