Load of b##locks really. Agriland posted the other day that livestock markets over there were going to making it compulsory for vendors to give out that animals were under drug withdrawal periods!! Watching the vets programs recently from over there they are still pretty backwards and rules are years behind ours.Dont forget where the horse meat scandal came from too

I wouldn’t worry about available kg of lamb, no one gives a shît about lamb enough to be concerned, the unfinished lambs help to pull the trade back when it’s on the slide because it’s a lesser product/grade/spec!! You have your good lambs penned next to a pen of lean under done lambs that are sold first an then try an get yours up ten/twenty pence, not easy

What’s the problem with people sending under-finished lambs? It’s taking kgs of lamb off the market in the long term which can only be good news, unless of course you are selling them.

Melton had 3000 lambs in the fat on Tuesday and apparently 1000 were purchased and taken on for more finishing.

Lambs at Gisburn yesterday were an improvement on midweek, SQQ 252p. Gisburn on a Saturday is a good market for the ethnic buyers of East Lancs./West York’s., and they will be the ones driving the trade. Cull ewe numbers were up and so were prices.
