Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Keep thinking about selling some stores but somewhere I need to recoup the loss of bps and selling lambs at £70-80 isn’t going to do that. Will have to try and make up the shortfall with what the finisher would normal make out of it. Trouble with this plan is over half my aftermaths still has the silage attached to them.
First thought is if you are on with hoppers it’s not all fun and games. You need a decent price to break even. When it is going well you have a reckon up and you think you haven’t fed enough.
Cut 30 acres today and keeping on going it’s going flat now so will have to come off need cows on shyt on and lambs in as daft as it all sounds

Cull ewes Monday Skipton good trade, fat texel 150 crap mules 67, took a few that’s just the range best to worst.

Stores today around 30kg smart texel tight skinned white faced got 86 elated with that I was expecting around 73!

Stuff that was slightly ‘off breed’ none commercial seem very poor you really had to have the smart stuff to get money,

Weirdly the fats lambs on Monday buyers were not fussy beltexy stuff hardly any more than mixed texel as long as it was fat it was fine or at least that was my observation 🤷🏻‍♂️

Never understood the concept of giving luck on fat lambs, how much luck do you need to load them on to the wagon and take them to slaughter?
It’s a thank you and appreciated by people anything I sell live I give luck money and I buy stuff and it’s appreciated to me too that’s how I see it old fashioned maybe ways but it’s still a decent attitude to have
