Just shows how we get shafted most other years.
👍 and in most countries sheep meat is just that not lamb or ewes so when the robbing c@nts were paying a pound or two for ewes look at the profit they were making it’s only now the Muslim community are buying out of the markets we can see the true value of what we where essentially giving away for free
Heard this several times over, they’d simply go bust very quickly if they were losing like that with the numbers that they are dealing with
But it’s like us with selling it’s not the individual it’s the average that counts so if they’re saying they’re losing £20 a lamb we can work out what they’re contract price is and don’t forget they will be on a 12 month contract with guaranteed supply or massive penalties for not for filling contracts

Hopefully there’s an option for people who are 100% tenanted on grazing licences who have to farm the land how the landlords want so they get their payments 😉😉🤣🤣
If the Landlord wants you off so they get their payment from an SFI scheme or an existing Stewardship, then you are off!

And they wont be long in telling you either if their payments are in jeopardy.

yup, about to loose a block that they want to take the no grazing winter payment on £474/ha to leave the grass to go to head in summer and stay rough over winter 🤯.

Have you had a look to see what options come up as eligible on your land on the RPA website?
Yes it’s not very exciting is it. Mainly a destocking thing or semi retirement plan. £60 or £100 an acre I don’t think I could do either of them especially the £100 one. How the hell they come up with the idea not to graze land for 5 weeks in the growing season where it only grows for 5 months. They want that 5 weeks in June and July too it only gets going then. Their plan is obvious

Can you not put your meadows in that? 🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t know, we haven’t that much good ground, once you start cutting production for these schemes, it’s not long before you think buggerit, we haven’t enough stock to make it worthwhile, especially milking twice a day.

If we were to reduce the stock for the benefit of being in the scheme then we wouldn’t have a business left we would just have some land we were claiming sfi on. Stock prices have jumped as well which doesn’t encourage it. There will be something we can go into no doubt. They have increased one of our payments £2 a hectare from £8 to £10 the whole thing is a joke
