Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

I was just thinking that. They are good cattle. I dont think they would make much more at Carlisle on a normal Wednesday. They have to be older and bigger to get the heights there.

Had a few store hoggs in at Longtown. I thought the edge had gone off the trade a little, although C.Putt said it was as strong as ever. I had £137 for some easycare x texel things i bought out of Hexham at the end of October. They almost doubled themselves and couldnt have been any more than 35kg.

DW in fine form. Bought a big run of Blackie hoggs off Whitfield Estates @ £90,then a whopping pen of 160(filled the ring) of Swales at £79,then the last pen of 50 or so aswell.

Didnt see many farmer buyers in,just the usual set.
There was supposed to be someone going from here but the mrs had plenty of problems this morning I couldn’t get for what was to do here.
Those blackies maybe weren’t so bad I was in at some of those last year at around £85/87 and got knocked out. Someone later said‘I bet you are pleased you didn’t get them’
Usually you can get a few in amongst the usual folks but those southern fellas seem mad keen this time. CP can always think of a good reason not to be buying them.
Is DW on for the light lamb job? He’s often in amongst that

:unsure:that chary bullock would want to be assured, be a big lad in 60 day's never mind 90 ;)
It was a good going sale, but I thought younger cattle not as sharp as last sale.

Reading another thread, I wonder how some of these Chary's will do if fatners are forced to drop "Barley Beef" type systems. Going to make it hard to finish a lot of them before 30 month, or is that no longer an issue?

No I think there will be a lot of heavy lambs about now but lean then early December they will come out after hoppering. I don’t think they will go backwards due to Xmas trade but maybe stand still at £3 per kilo. Over new year January they will be a nice trade £3.30 kilo then ease off before going super dear late March averaging £3.80-4.00. £5-6 for good Hoggs. That’s my balls on the block for a hopefully real prediction. We all need some luck along the way a good payday is needed and farming works opposite to the economy.
I better buy a lottery ticket

Extract from a very long Dingwall Sale report today. Have we anew Sale reporter, not as eloquent as usual. Puzzling choice of word. Do they know something we don't?

“Hogg trade continues to power on like the Titanic, however no iceberg is in sight just yet. A centre record of 330 ppkg was achieved with many travelled sheep reaping the rewards of what the castle has to offer. All classes of hoggs cashed in at phenomenal returns, in particular heavy hoggs. Which topped at £218 for Blue Texels from first time consignor J. Duncan, Inchford. The record breaking continues into the ewe ring with £330 being achieved on two separate occasions from Wester Raddery for Pure Texels. All in all, a fantastic trade was had with all classes cashing in dearer on the week. Many more could have easily been sold to vendors advantage, so don’t be shy give us a try!”
