Anything over £50-60 is taking the pee in my eyes .

Technician on 40k which is 800 a week so £20 covers him, double it for overheads add £10 profit do £50/hour adequate. When the sub goes all this needs to be paid for from diminished ag income.......killing the golden goose comes to mind.
If that’s the case why do you not open a dealership and charge £60 an hour and you’ll be making £20 per hour profit per mechanic if it’s that easy -and you’ll still be cheaper than most so you’ll be really busy and make a fortune

.....because I am a farmer and have no interest in doing that. What's your point?

Plus deputy manager, secretaries, accounts person ,training etc
rates, capital expenditure on buildings for ever larger machinery ie Combines and SP foragers.
Their costs are enormous and stress levels must be high, i dont envy the owners one bit even
though they've had a good run last few years.
Their choice to have all that some dont same as farming , plenty farmers keep it sensible for good reason

Your right that by being small you can keep the costs down but getting a customèr
going quickly at harvest time or other critical times of the year can be
very valuable .What price do you put on that?
All relative , big firms have massive inefficiencys ie % of arseholes employed straight away , small family firms usually farm better staff ….. controversial but is what i see

Not many of the latter around here unfortunately.
It's either big concerns or one man bands who will
be with you in six weeks time if your lucky.

Try watching police videos on YouTube etc. The way they get treated by the public is appalling.
It's the modern world. I don't like it☹️
However the police themselves are not exactly the most upright and honest people themselves are they? There's plenty of non-police authorised videos floating around the internet showing the police demonstrating every vice from blatant lying to unprovoked violence. And thats before one even considers the London Met.........

A quick Google suggests P+B in 2021 had a turnover of 66 million and come away with a pre tax profit of 800,000. Yes it's a lot of money but you could do much better investing elsewhere.
