Last one one we bought , sheep hate it
takes a fair bit of driving tho ours is on solar but plug it in to mains you can as well.that company got a good selection of high power ones and , very competitive.on price
Got an mvf 3.5 j dual power one that they respect as well.
They will kick out 8 to 10 kv in good going ,
best thing I ever done for electric fencing was buying modern energiser units for success with sheep fencing.
I have two 3 Joule Speedrite ones from Rappa which are very good but my favourite ones are 3.2 Joule Hotline Buzzards. They seam better made and also have a very strong stand so don't need to hang them on the wire. I would never go smaller than 3 Joule and keep your earth stake well watered when it's dry and u'll struggle to go wrong. I bought a Voss like the one posted above and it seamed very well built and packaged but after a year it packed up, like everything you get what you pay for.
I bought a 2J ‘Defender’ from RAPPA last w8nter, which seems a good value, no frills fencer. The case and the instruction book look suspiciously like those of the VOSS ones @Bury the Trash mentioned.
Superb protection for Chickens The hotShock range have been designed to be highly effective, Foxes, Badgers and Wild Boar are effectively excluded by this Devil providing excellent predator exclusion.
yeah ,unless its box is built for outdoor use itsbest to keep them in the dry and hanged up i guess.
must admit not yet had reason to try out the 3yr guarentee.
ibc 's make agood box as long as you dont need too frequent moving .
and solar panel ontop.
Struggle to beat the Rutland ESB 275/325’s if I’m honest. Had 1 flood, 1 burn a circuit board and another cook somehow, all over 20 years old but apart from that they’ve been faultless, run 8 rutlands, 1 gallagher B280 which I don’t like much and a Rappa Defender 2J, the rappa is simple and does the job but not having fast/night/slow is a disadvantage but not the end of the world. The Rutland 325’s I use on longer runs and to train sheep and then have 275’s and 2J fencers for sheep that know the script and then ESB 202’s for fences sub 100metre
