Best drainage rods

Just remember to keep twisting clockwise to ensure number six stays attached to number seven whilst rodding. And count them in AND out!
One, two, three, lots isn’t good enough as a run of three left down a 4” salt-glazed pipe is a thrill-less retrieve🤪

These have a 19mm nut that you tighten in, after you have located the square anti-twist nose into the socket of the previous rod. Stops them coming undone. They work, I've had these for years.

Similar connector that the older cane rods used. Just remember your spanner!

I've a couple of sets from Screwfix same as those blue ones, been up more manky holes than a pimp's tadger & haven't lost the ends from any yet
They are slightly longer than some of the other brands with the less fancy connectors

Can’t beat the old nylon ones, incredibly difficult to get ones like them now. I saw some at an auction and some basta** out bid me! Do not ever, ever buy the silver line ones!

I like the Bailey rods and like to have at least one of their thicker rods, just shy of an inch IIRC or maybe they are an inch. I find a thicker rod much easier to grip for screwing the corkscrew into the root blockage.
If you are screwing into roots don't go too mad because you are going to have to pull them out, you can't unscrew them a bit or they come undone.
Have used some of those you can tighten with a spanner but never wanted to own any and never had an issue with the ordinary ones coming apart. User error if they do.
