Best metal tag

Need to order some more tags. Before anybody says metal cause infection, plastic are better etc. We like metal ones and have used for years. However last ones from Ketchum seem to sometimes not line up properly to lock, we think this is because they are longer than they used to be, we have several different pliers but the problem still occurs. We have had a sample from Qwiksilver which are shorter but it appears that the cows individual number is on one side and the herd number is on the other therefore meaning to be able to read the the cows number you would have to put the tag in opposite way round to how you normally would ie spike upwards not downwards. Anybody used this type of tag or have had similar problems with others.

I was having the same problem. Changed to another company can't mind of the top o my head what they were called but the retention of them was awful and didn't clip together very well at times. So last year I changed to the roxan brass tag. A bit early to say what like retention will be. Had no problems with the actual tagging.
