Yet another poster with no location so you may end up with loads of irrelevant replies. We use these folks, who use locally collected seed wherever possible and grow on site, with the exception of hawthorn, which although they collect seed, others grow for them alalowing them to get the volumes they need. good family business

A few years ago , I used to do some work for The Wood Farm Estate ,near Wolverhampton. On the estate stands the Royal Oak in which King Charles hid, (and subsequently gifted the original estate to the family) , who have it to this day. They have lots of seedling Oaks, some from THE Oak, and some of other varieties of Oak, in their private tree nursery.I don't know if they generally sell them nowadays, but they are a very nice family to deal with. It would be quite something to have that kind of provenance behind your trees! Pm me for the address if you like?

Having been in the trade a few years ago, I can tell you it is far more important to have a good source for Oaks than most trees as they are difficult to transplant if larger than very small whips.
I would go and collect this number to ensure maximum survival also be very careful handling and not allowing the roots to dry out at all.
Be also aware that they must be very tasty as everyone will be nipped off if they are not protected in guards
