Best spreader of sloppy muck?

Sticking this in here as most of you probably have to handle this sort of material or have a contractor who does (Mods move to machinery if necessary - ta)

We have a heifer lagoon that produces muck halfway between stackable FYM and liquid slurry. Sort of gloopy stuff with bits of straw & silage. Too thick to suck, too liquid to put in to most FYM spreaders without it leaking on the road.

However there must be a spreader made that can handle this sort of material without it leaking out of the door? We currently have a 2nd hand Joskin Torando that is fine if it is genuine FYM but leaks like a sieve if we put this heifer stuff in to it. Really need to travel on the same highway as the Great British Public so no leaks would be excellent

I thank you

We have a Shelborne and it’s perfect for what you describe. We have the same issue as you and have a Rolland and a tanker aswell and stuff to thick to suck is to sloppy for Rolland so need the shelborne aswell

Think Marshall trailers have a spreader that uses a ram to push the muck up to the rioters rather than floor chains. I would imaging it would hold gloopy stuff pretty well without leaking.

Have had a west dual spreader before and that would spread the type of muck you are describing easy and without leaks. I traded my West for a Marshall 105 rotaspreader recently but that is well better at spreading bedding muck as the West would go thro no end of shear bolts in a day on hard rotted bedding muck but the Marshall is no where near as good for spreading sloppy stuff but can’t do with the hassle of messing around with shear bolts and contant blocking the West would do on hard muck

always found the West’s to be ok as long as you didn’t load the front right up on more strawy type manure,do they still leave quite a trail if spreading sloppy stuff where it drops out and the wheel goes over it ?

We've had 1600 west's since 87 , they're made of monkey metal these days, doors start to leak after 2years , last one we've got has worst paint job than Marshall , not sure what to replace it with, like the khun but not big enough.

Contractors who have worked for us have had Wests,Shelbourne and Keenan.Wests leave a strip of slurry down the field as the rotor under throws. The Shelbourne spreads better as it over throws but prone to the occasional blockage.Keenan, impressive spread, will handle most "impurities " with contemp, best of the bunch.

unless you forget to reset the keenan pusher and fill it up...:banghead:

As I see it I would dump all your bedding/box muck at the entry point a week before you plan to spread it, push it all back into the sloppy stuff, forcing the box muck back to dry up the sloppy stuff

Thats what we do on the robots.
Muck out tip slurry on top and allow to perculate down through. Then mix in at clean out of store and repeat.
