Best steel container

More thieves about than there used to be, or is it that we accumulate more stuff than we used to?

Anyway, Julie wants somewhere to store feed for the fattest sheep in Pembrokeshire, without the rats eating it first; and the UTV, and our tools, and everything else that'll go missing if it isn't hung up or nailed down.

One of those nice bunded diesel tanks with filters and a pump would fit nicely into a steel container, wouldn't it? And a workbench? Nice.

So, is a steel container the answer? And if it is, what size, how much and where to get it?

Walter, this is one of three that I have, it is not a shipping container it is a store. I believe the company that makes them is called New Space or something like that and they are in the Forest of Dean. I can't tell you how much they are as this one was on hire when the hire company went bust and they didn't keep very good records :), needless to say it was a bargain. It is boarded out so there is no condensation and it had a fuse box inside, two strip light and an electric heater.

We have one fitted out as a weigh bridge office, partitioned off toilet tec all done by Leavesley Containers , Burton on Trent, they have once used 20 foot containers as new as well as all ages types and prices, well worth a phone call for a price ( no pun intended!)

Battery grinders make light work of containers as our neighbour found out recently. A small porthole cut in the roof allowed them to locate what they wanted and where to try to enter, then an I cut in the side let them in. They took a motorbike and a few tools out of the hole. Welding a couple of crash barriers around the outside would give them more to think about but unfortunately a basic container seems to only prevent casual thefts rather than those that come prepared.

you can insulate and cover them in ship lap makes a 20ft shipping container look rather smart and inconspicuous
A farm not that far from you has his quad hidden in a store that is mocked-up to look like an old steel diesel tank, with the 'door' in the rear.

No. I don't understand the logic behind it, either.....
