Just wondering what people thought of Betacraft waterproof clothing.
www.betacraft.co.nz/product/iso940-mens-parka/&ved=2ahUKEwiM-5G7h-jlAhW-QxUIHSNmAioQFjABegQIBBAB&usg=AOvVaw0AMy2byr5kc1eyvan-sX7a
Compared to kaiwaka stormforce and stoney creek force 18.

Betacraft range is a far bit cheaper, i would love a stoney creek force 18 but nearly £400 it hard to justify, i don't think the new stormforce fabric is not has good as the first set i had with the small square fabric.

What does everyone else think.

I agree about the storm force fabric. My first kaiwaka was in a different league to the new big square fabric.

I'd go for kaiwaka over betacraft. But stoney creek over both . (I've got something from all three makes).

Vane valley or is if Fane? ( I'll check) Got really good prices on kaiwaka at the minute. If your not keen on spending on stoney creek I'd go kaiwaka.

Edit : Fane Valley Stores

Yes loved my old kaiwaka stormforce set got 4 years out leggings and 5 years out of the jacket and still ok in light rain, new bigger square fabric is 2 years and leaking a bit.
Will have to bite the bullet and go stoney creek jacket.

My first kaiwaka was worth every penny. 2nd one not so much.

There is one stoney creek jacket with dimples on the shoulders. That'll be my next buy so I can carry stuff around without wearing through the fabric.

I did go for a force 18 in the end. So glad with all this wind and rain. Great jacket. I doesn't have a inner lining, so you do find a bit damp from sweat. Love that it have long wide sleeves so when you are wearing gloves water doesn't go inside the glove. Well worth the money, leggings next.

I have the betacraft coat and leggings. Haven't had Kaiwaka so afraid can't compare, but the betacraft is streets ahead of anything I've tried before, including army goretex.
I couldn't justify the extra cost in my mind for kaiwaka - it would make me cry to catch these in barb wire, let alone the kaiwaka.

Had the iso940 parka. Just not over keen on the rubbery cuffs. Are the kaiwaka the same?

@tepapa do you have the force 18 jacket? Do they have an inner and outer shell or are they like an army goretex in principle (just an outer layer)?
Also I’m guessing they are pretty tough and farmer proof?
Sorry I have a pioneer jacket not the force 18. The pioneer jacket is pretty tough and farmer proof but is a different material to the force 18.
I do have some force 18 leggings but only worn them a few times so can't comment on the material and toughness yet.

Got my kaiwaka Stormforce in the post last night only paid £126+vat, early days but feels a quality jacket ? got a few friends with betacraft and they are both happy, think they came from Carrs Billington.

Got my Kaiwaka stormforce jacket from Fane valley last week. £123.96 plus vat. Very pleased with it to date. Looks and feels a qualtiy product. Think it was over £200 with Kaiwaka. Had a Betacraft bib overalls since April and they seem to have been pretty good but i do feel heavy rain seems to start leaking through after a while now.
Wouldnt even think of going back to Flexothane now thats for sure.

Is the betacraft coat one where you need to wear a fleece under for warm or is it a true winter coat?

It has 2 layers, but they also do another with a fleece lining as well.
Personally I prefer a lightweight coat, then add a fleece under if it's cold, otherwise it's too warm in milder weather. This one is plenty warm enough in spring /autumn temps, but nice now. I wear a fleece under if very cold, or going long distances on the quad, which I do a lot of this time of year.

yeah. That’s what I do. Easy to add or drop a layer.
Thanks

My force 18 over trousers have been shite. I've only worn them a few times and they've ripped from front to back in the crotch and are now pretty much useless. I wouldn't say the material would stand much hard farm work. A complete waste of money which is sad as the design is good with opening zips on the lower leg to get them on over boots.
They've been replaced by the pioneer trousers, which I should have had the first time but I got the wrong size🤦🏽‍♀️, and being the same material as the jacket I predict will fair much better.

I will report back in time on the peformance of this Lidl alternative @ £19.99. No leggings but that might be next week. Found unexpectedly in the aisle that looks like a jumble sale but displays stuff you didnt know you needed until you got there.
