The post has now been pulled but this is an utter betrayal of its livestock students of past, present and future 🤬

Apparently this is being backed by the Animal Rising

So there are other establishments in Yorkshire doing the same..

At Bishops Burton there are 5 in house restaurants, Bishops Table is just one of them...so I would like to think their takings for the month of January will be vastly reduced vs the other on site facilities.

I saw the post on their facebook page and commented to point out the error of their ways...2 hours later the main post had been deleted from their facebook feed.....

Back when I were a lad, this would have been a prime candidate for a bit of student action , boycotting of the cafeteria and meetings with the college authorities. I suppose the question is whether there are still enough agrics to make waves. Even comments on a well read forum like this might filter back to the college to make them reassess the idea.

"Bishop Burton College would like to address the response to its social media post about serving plant-based meals in one of its food outlets this January. We fully recognise and apologise for the impression this gave to our wider farming community, stakeholders, students past, present and future.
We have always made sure we offer meat and plant-based options, something we have been doing as a college for many years – offering choice to all.
As a specialist land-based college, our core business is agriculture and we recognise the importance of livestock production to sustainable farming systems and to a healthy balanced diet.
Bill Meredith, Principal"

Does that address anything? 🤷‍♂️

I don't think the statement addresses the problem. I'm sure there were veggies 40 years ago when I was at college, and I don't think anyone minds what others choose to eat, I have life long friends who are vegetarian.
The problem for me is the whole tone of that announcement in support of veganuary, claiming benefits for health, sustainability and mental well-being. These are patently untrue and simply a populist cover for the activists behind that wording.
