Bit flippant, but a good message.

Brilliant, certainly makes you think. Every one of us are complicit, no matter how green we try to be.

The other night when I went to bed there was an article on the radio about the latest country(Kenya) to have a total ban on plastic bags, the lady went on to say how far reaching the consequences of their use had been, it got me to thinking, it was not that long ago, everyone used real bags or baskets, then the supermarkets came along, and suddenly we required umpteen bags to haul our load home, anyway, I digress!

I too remember groceries delivered in re used boxes. 2 at the most from the local shop. How come we now need bags and bags of the stuff? How could we live, and live well, off those 2 boxes of groceries?

The answer to plastic waste is to either force widescale direct recycling, ban it's use, or instead of landfilling it, put it into plasma incinerators- waste to energy. In fact, in time with this technology you can even mine landfill sites. Any metallic waste is formed into a slag like product you can use to build roads or use as aggregate.

Plastic is just so cheap and useful that you will never justify banning it's use.

Meanwhile, water companies charge good money for reconditioning waste and water streams, and deliberately let excess rain water go during winter.

Good vid that.

Re shopping, we use a couple of plastic collapsible crates to do the supermarket run. Have done for years, abs loathe plastic bags for the simple reason everything falls about in the car. Beyond me why anyone would choose to use platic bags in the first place. Lost count of the number of people who've said what a good idea. Made of plastic of course :( but I won't be flushing them down the loo anytime soon :)
