Why oh why would you want horns like this on a sheep? These 3 fetched nearly 2000 a head aswell

Wide horned blackies are barstewards in the combi-clamp,they put their head down and refuse to go in.

They look nothing like the blackies I remember from my time on Skye. They swept backwards and you could get a full curl without digging in to the head. I shudder to think what state they would look if they hadn't had enough feed to put those horns on.

Fashions in some top breeders eyes may raise eyebrows in us lesser mortals in one or two hill breeds. One`s really seriously got to hope that the LONG TERM future of these breeds will be safe....... There are plenty of examples in history where breeds have lost favour as a result of not being fit for purpose. Certainly this "wildness" is not too popular in some circles, and quite frankly I can`t see how a ewe that tears off with one lamb leaving t`other behind is much good to anyone!!
