Ballygowan Blondes offer for sale Ohio, a May 18 son of stock bull Ark Maverick (by Dollar) and Ballygowan Dixie-Chick (by Landais).
Ohio is the first bull to be offered for sale by Maverick, he was shown 3 times, winning the junior bull class at Balmoral in May and picking up the Reserve junior Champion title. He was since shown at Saintfield and Castlewellan, again winning the junior bull class and picking up the reserve male - both times only beaten by the overall Blonde Champion.
Ohio is exceptionally easy fleshing with excellent food conversion - he is presently on 3Kg of calf grower per day. His dam Dixie-Chick has a serious volume of milk behind her and Ohio will leave correct females with an abundance of milk.
Sire, Maverick is exceptionally easy calved and Ohio brings correctness, fleshing, great top line, width and superior temperament & suitable for Pedigree cows or heifers.
Ohio has already served a bought in heifer.
The first photo is of Ohio back in May at Balmoral - at just a year old.
The next few (photos 2-4) are of Ohio this week (August).
Then half sister Lexi (same dam).
Dam Dixie Chick.
Sire Maverick at turnout this spring.
Then a few of this years Maverick calves.

He looks to have grown a bit since I saw him

Hey Stuart, he’s flying at grass alright. As relaxed as ever.
Was hoping to get him to Carlisle in October but my present rota has me away at work. Slight chance that might change if I don’t sell him now.
How’s all with you?

Good stuff, sounds like a bull we need. He should do alright if you get him to Carlisle.
Yeah all good with us. Got the herds competition judges coming today, so I'll quiz them about your bull ;)
