While I'm swinging my handbag I might take a swipe at young Martin too with his biased comments on the milking abilities of Herefords. I might retaliate by saying Simms are hard feeders or poor shape but I won't because I expect he has some good ones. Likewise I had good Herefords. So do plenty others.
Martin says there are different types of sim cattle within the breed but also seems to sometimes suggest that there is only one type of any other breed when he wants to dismiss them for some reason
not being funny, no handbags, just something I have noticed before
I would suggest that out of the pure breeders on TFF that I will be one of the few who will point out faults within their own breed, like strains of Simmental with lack of milk, poor growth and difficult calving.
Now I am not naive enough to assume that there aren't these variations within all breeds not just our own, but breeds do tend to have general trends, like Sims don't often win fatstock shows, or Culards aren't a very functional suckler dam, or a BBxHol cow isn't best suited for outwintering.
There are exceptions to these rules, but they are generally somewhere near the mark.
