We got an elcheapo £10ish one for when we go camping. USB charging and just run the radio or downloads off the phone to it.

Depends on budget. How much? I have a Dali Katch which is pricey but decent sound quality. Not as good as the Logitech 715i that I bought a few years ago to sit my ipod on top of though.

Hate to say it but the Bose soundlink units are very good, Logitech also not bad, battery life can be an issue but if happy with a mains powered one much better sound for lower price. I actually like the libratone units but are expensive and compared to the soundlink a tough call. Don't rate the beats stuff pill etc at all

I was looking @ battery powered really. I’d probably pay a couple of hundred max. If only cause I would draw the line somewhere. Mind you if something was really good..... Thanks for the ideas anyway.

Rules the Dali out then!! £329 currently. Has the added benefit of being a charger for a phone/tablet whilst away from a power socket though. Think some others might also have this ability though.

The Logitech machine I referred to wasn't Bluetooth, and no longer available.

I have a Bose Soundlink Mini. Very good sound quality for something so small. Good for a couple of hours at high volume when running on its battery. Typical Bose battery drain even when turned off though.

Friend has one of these, quite amazing how they get such reasonable sound out of something so small. Good value for money, you've got to spend quite a bit more to get noticeably better.
