Looking at a new Telehandler and have been looking at the bobcat 38-70. There is a dealer in our area now so it is an option. Just looking for peoples experiences of them as I don’t have much experience of them.

Made by from FDI sambron heritage I think
I doubt whether there is even a tiny bit of that heritage left in today's machines. They probably run Doosan engines and have a hydrostatic transmission. They have changed significantly even in the last decade and a half and since Sambron were an entity in the mid 1990's.

It was, yes, but SDF/Deutz-Fahr no longer offer a telehandler, partly because JLG have stopped making them, I believe.
That’s news to me.

Just had a look at the JLG web site and they seem to now only offer two machines, with 20kph top speed and rather weedy engines. Boom of either 13 or 17m. No ag-spec machine that I could find, but there may be some that I missed.

They seem a good machine, 38.70HF is a right weapon, goes really well on the road too with 130hp and 40k box

Fully flat bottom on the chassis so the fuel tank won't get pulled off when clamping silage like a JCB

The 30.60 is a handy sized machine but a bit gutless on the road, suspension cab though.

I had a demo 30.60 a few weeks ago. I liked it, it had plenty power, visibility was good, cab was nice and straight forward no fancy dashboards like other makes. Auto handbrake was neat aswell. Had everything you need on a handler. Think they have a long warranty aswell.

3 tonnes and 6M?

What kind of price?

Sorry for the questions but if buying new do you have a choice of attachment style, or bobcat have their own or they are the same as a manotio for eg?
Our local tractor dealer is hoping to get bobcat now duetz don’t sell telescopic and I am not happy with my manitou experiences.

Had a bobcat when they first bought FDI Sambron, so a number of years and ownership changes ago. It is right up on the most unreliable machines I have ever owned list. not quite as bad as one of the JDs we have had.

It was a shame as the sambrons were brilliant. Dad must have bought the first one we had in the late 70s, many of his friends told him that handlers were useless as they were not a tractor. I think we had 3 JAC 24 rear steer machines and 2 orange FDI.

We are on Manitou number 7 now and running 2 of them.

Bobcat have their own brackets.
They're very similar to manitou.

There are factory options of JCB qfit or manitou headstock I think

38-70 is £5k cheaper than the Kramer 35-7 and it comes with a 5 yr warranty compared to 2yr and 5 yr 0% finance which is appealing.
I had a demo of both and liked both machines. Kramer has a couple of extra gadgets such as automatic boom in function which was handy.
