Hi all I am new member. I have a farmtrim 435 (direct drive) now this week I started our annual hedge trimming all fine for two days then third day I engaged pto to start the head and it made like a spitting or spatting noise until head was running then when Revving up to speed made same noises and again noises when tackling the hedge almost like its slipping and I’m unsure where to look first any help gratefully recieved . Check the splines or key on head motor drive to rotor.

Does it have v belts like the bomford supertrim ,mabey check.
Head motor is directly on to head no belts thanks

Hydraulic relief valve, its what blows off when it jams solid, had to tweek ours up after a few years use.

Yours is probably not got a cable to switch flail on/off but its the squre shaped block of ali.
On mine the relief valve was underneath the block and had a green plastic cover.

First of all the easiest thing to check is the oil level - could be sucking air.
Sucking air Between the tank the pump ?

If you adjust keep count of the turns in case its not that and its the motor to rotor connection. Relief valve issues are very slow run up but smooth, and slows too easily in work especially long wet grass.

I was thinking if the oil level in the tank dropped below the suction filter say on the side of a hill.

There is also a gauze filter in the top of the tank that should be checked.
Oil seem to be returning perfectly
