Borehole problem

We have had a borehole for about 20 years, very few problems had a new pump and digital control box about 18 months ago.

Recently, it has started running intermittently, it'll run for 15 minutes then stop for half an hour or so even if the water tank is still half empty then run again for another 15 minutes or so.

When I check the control box the on off switch is flashing green but the running dry light is not showing.

When I switch it off then back on the green light is solid and it runs for another 15 minutes or so.

My father does not want to contact the installer yet because it always costs a huge amount when they get involved.

Any ideas on the problem?

@5312 Intrigued what the need for a control box is.
Ones that I have seen just had a contactor that was activated by a pressure switch or float switch seem to work faultlessly.

Control boxes are often quite straight forward inside, a contactor and a series of switches to create the effect of a simple logic circuit. For example the power, low level, and demand switches all have to be "on" for the pump to run.

As to finding the problem start here:
When it stops pumping, is there still water coming out of the pipe? Is the water as clean as it usually is?
Depending on the type of demand swich you have, it may be sticking or hovering when the tank reaches a certain level of contents. So: check if the pump is shutting off at the same place in the tank every time, or is it after a certain run time as you have suggested.
If you have a mechanical switch, tap it about a minute after the pump stops and see if it starts back up.
If you have an electronic switch, you will need to test if there is a call signal going to the box.
If you have the ability, test the current going to the pump when it is running fine, and ideally when it stops.
Assuming you are not having to reset an overload to get the pump to run, it could be loose connections on the contactor, so IF YOU ARE COMPETENT, check the wiring is still tight.
Sorry to shout but if you are unsure what you are doing, electricity and a farmer's desire to get something working can be dangerous.
On that note I would never recommend manually operating the contactor to see if the pump runs and at what current. But I did see it done years ago!

Take a picture of the box and its contents. Somone on here will probably be able to steer you right.
