quickest return investment we've ever done, mono pump, 6 bar great
I know it’s variable but what does it cost to sink a borehole? I expect we will have a high iron content too and I expect would neeed treating.
Just done one.
The first 20ft drilled 200mm €18/ft
steel liner first 20ft €6.80/ft
Grouting borehole (prevents contamination) €180
Drill 150mm €8/ft
pvc liner 150mm €3.90/ft
Air lifting the well is included which removes sediment etc.
Pumps, pressure vessels, electrics all extra
All prices ex vat
The overburden (approx 20 ft) has to be a larger hole and is steel lined so costs more.
Its a bit of luck as to how they produce, ours is rated 700 gallons per hour, but it could just of easily been 50 gallons.
Are there many restrictions/regulations in the UK about where you can sink a borehole/how much water you can extract?
Authorities have just started requiring people extracting large quantities (over 25m3 per day I think) to be registered here. I think there will likely be a lot more rules and regulations here in the coming years in this area.
Up to 20 cu m a day no restrictionAre there many restrictions/regulations in the UK about where you can sink a borehole/how much water you can extract?
Sorry to hijack thread but has anyone had issues with Iron Oxide blocking the water pipes? The diameter of mine has been reduced by a red/brown sludge to about 50% of normal diameter. Have been discussing with a chemical supplier about pouring Borehole Saver in to dissolve the Iron Oxide but they are quoting £1250 and the prospect of having to do it twice! What really put the icing on the cake was £106 carriage charge!
Anyone got advice, other options?
Yes but if it blocks up & you have to install new pipes, probably going to cost more? Esp if putting in 50mm or bigger
Have a word with Dales Water at Ripon.Anyone got advice, other options?

Can not fault them. Can only speak as I findI am based near them, and when I was looking into having one drilled I asked around and nobody had a good word to say about them
