Maybe hijacking the thread a bit, but can any 750a users give me some guidance on what control boxes you are using. I understand the drill comes isobus ready, but I don't have an isobus terminal. I need a terminal that is capable of automatic variable rate drilling. Currently, my setup is a Trimble cfx750 which handles the autosteer and variable rate, but it seems a mine field of what will talk to what!
Anyone out there using a 750a on automatic variable rate, and if so what box do you use? JD suggested 1800 box, but Soyl say it won't do VR..
@Clive @Simon Chiles @SilliamWhale @RTK Farmer @Banana Bar ?
I have FMXs unlocked for ISO and serial control. Using screen as virtual teminal only at the moment but they should do vari rate control too. Drill is new this season so learning one step at a time. Just got camera in hopper added. Next outing will be with slug pellets from Maxicast I added, may try Soil Quest seeding maps after that.

@Cutlerstom As i understand it you need a jd 2600 or 2630 to plug an isobus drill into on a non isobus tractor in order to drill vari rate, or possibly a kverneland tellus screen. A trimble cfx 750 can't be connected directly to the drill using isobus as a controller.
I stand to be corrected on the above though @Simon Chiles @Clive

JD do a spoked gauge wheel now, part no AA86055, looks better than the mudsmith and I like the fact that the bearing is retained by a circlip, no more shimming the bearing when it gets play between the two halves of the rim.
Have you managed to get a price for them, at close to a £100 the Guttlers are significantly cheaper.

Seems a shame JD only go to 6m with all their experience in the US they should make wide drills for over here.

there can only be a handful of UK farms big enough to need much more, can't see that market being big enough for them to do all the design, build and testing required just to sell a handful of machines. even then farms needing such capacity would be far better off buying x2 6m that can still be pulled by light weight lower HP cheap to own and run tractors, there is no need for expensive ? pointless things like total CTF etc then.

I wonder if the kgs/coulter is as much on the USA design machines ?

You need to recalibrate how much more a zero-till drill can easily cope with and drop the obsession with running billy big balls Quadtrac !
