Ayr sold over 1000 mule ewe lambs to average £82 which was back £18 on year.

Over 1000 gimmers averaging £113 which was back £23.

A fair drop in the year but last years prices pretty high.

Anyone at CD with news of the sale?

Didnt write any prices down but my gut says the average will be £130ish. IIRC last years avg. was £150ish.

The top price was £168.
The top end was back alot, but the bottom end seemed dear!! Some poor sheep still £110. I think £108 was the cheapest sold.

There were store lambs sold after the gimmers - IMO a very strong trade.

Will be interesting to see Mondays ewe lamb trade at CD...

But right now im just hoping the mess at Longtown is sorted out.

Bottom end at CD are probably strong though?

I'm quite nervous about this week. Got a few sheep to sell!

What's happening at longtown? If they go tits up whose going to step in? H and H may be thinking there purchase of St boswells was premature now!

Far too strong - IMO. Considering some very good sheep could be gotten in the £120's.

Umm maybe an open forum isnt the best place to talk about it. Im sure itl be fine...

Not entirely sure of all the details, but basically Longtown auction is in administration.
John Thompson has acquired it, it'll be trading with a slightly different name. All the farmers who sold stock there this last couple of weeks will be paid for them, but it looks like shareholders will have lost all their shares.

Don't know about him but it's absolutely disgusting the amount of credit these meat wholesalers get, they've sold the meat before they've even paid for it! They should pay for it on the day like farmers have to!

Longtown have had a lot of bad debts.
If buyers had to pay for their purchases on the day they bought them, there would be no debts and I'm sure commission would be able to be halved.
