We use layflat these days, spiral gets expensive and always seemed to split below the fixing?
Fit with pleats lined up with the auger, never been a problem. Easier to move out of way opening bin lids, etc. to.

Thanks, thats what happened today, it started raining, jacked auger to max height, shoved extension to one side & it snapped in half, gone rusty over the years.

The American boys use something that looks like a whole row of 3 gallon buckets with no bottoms strapped together.

I have been thinking about that myself, currently I uses that spiral plastic stuff but it doesn't last forever and it requires frequent bandaging as it wears through. Occasionally it falls in the bin which is a bit of a pain but that is my fault for not doing up the clip enough.
