The British Farming Awards are organised by Briefing Media Agriculture, parent company of Farmers Guardian, Dairy Farmer and Arable Farming and look to recognise positive contributions to British Farming.

One of the categories is 'Arable Innovator' and after reading about some of the forward thinking practices people on TFF are currently doing, i would urge people to put themselves forward.

We are looking for people that have been successful in adopting new technologies, go above and beyond to look after the environment or that consistently produce top yields. So if you have improved the sustainability of your business or simply do what you do well, i would encourage you to enter by completing the nomination form which can be found by following the link below...

All shortlists will be invited to the BFA awards ceremony in London in October.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Martian, groundswell was brilliant. I think his brother was involved and I had a nice chat to his tractor driver, I nominate all 3 of them!

@Sleepy flogs expensive hay to horsey women, that's not innovation it's just being a glutton for punishment!

@martian for organising Groundswell
@Jim Bullock for his machinery diversification and sheer determination to make no till work for years...
@Clive and @Sleepy for starting and running a great forum
@Feldspar for his in-depth analysis of all farming decisions

Just a few ideas
Many thanks for even allowing me on your radar.... For some unknown reason I am seen as being the "enemy" by a number of UK growers... I just want to be able to able to continue farming, make a small profit and return the land in a better state than I took it over from... not a big ask....but....!!!?

Many thanks for thinking of us, it was a family affair and we couldn't have done it without the help of ...sorry, I've gone into my acceptance speech, we're not quite there yet.

The dreadful FW sent a team of photographers and reporters to the Groundswell Show and in their coverage of it they couldn't even bring themselves to mention the show's name, let alone any of the ideas behind and around the no-till revolution. You can't really blame them, as everything about no-till involves using less inputs (ie metal, diesel, chemicals and fertilisers) so advertisers aren't going to be too impressed if the mag bigs up a system which results in a loss of their sales. The FG is, of course, a much better paper, but still needs its adverts.
