British friesian bulls

No offence to both of you, but it sounds like you were using the wrong bulls. Friesians can and do milk, I've witnessed it with my very own eyes. But more importantly they milk from low input systems.
You have to remember if the breeders hadn't bred for nice looking cows you would be here saying that although friesians milk well they look like sh*te with their ice cream cone teats and unders dragging on the floor
it's those icecream cones, bad udders, and some evil tendencies, that i remember, most of them were nice and quiet, the bad ones, are the ones you remember. But the udders were not good, bottle tits, bad bags, and wide front tits, and a young lad just back from college, holstiens came in, avoncroft matchmaker was the first hol bull we used, and produced some lovely hfrs, probably exactly what we would like today. Milk yields are a very different thing, today, we have gone through the high yield white water stage, with putting virtually all the herd to dairy, to get enough replacements. With trying to get more milk from forage, 7/7500 litres is nearer the mark, quite achievable from a good friesian should do that.

They’ll be plenty of poor Holsteins about and good ones when you’ve got a larger gene pool always going to be a larger variation between best and worse?

We used what we thought were good bulls - Quentin, Tarquin, Solo, Patrol, Evolution. To be fair the Solos and Patrols are pretty sensible but Evolution was a terrible disappointment.

all we want, is a nice looking solid cow, who's udder is good, gives a sensible amount of good quality milk, lasts for av 6 lactations, produces a decent calf evert 365 days, and makes a lot of beef burgers when finished with, not asking for much really, and yet there are hundreds of ways to get there, according to the multitude of semen reps, who advocate something different to each other, and a complicated systems of cross breeding, all of which slightly different, but always the 'best'. No wonder one can get confused ! As an old inseminator never tired of telling us, the best bull in the world, was probably killed at calf stage.

I have 3 Fresian bulls for sale, extra to my needs for next year.
https://holstein-uk.org/animaldata/animal/ancestry/39855625 technically a holstein as he is 14%. 5 years old, noisy but not nasty. Coming off heifers this week and will go to abbattoir if not needed.
Rolo , https://holstein-uk.org/animaldata/animal/ancestry/41795265 . He needs a manly name registered! Being used to serve tail enders and got 3 incalf at the beginning when he jumped a gate, so he's fertile!
Rheg who is only a calf, by Bombadier out of https://holstein-uk.org/animaldata/animal/ancestry/40220312 going back to a 3* 10,000 l cow. Should produce smaller cattle with a serious will to milk.
All serious offers considered otherwise you'll see them in a burger soon!

Impression of latest crop of heifers
Sky-high Patrol- very milky
Chad -average
Langley brandysnap -quiet, don't notice them go through
Blackisle benloyal -very tidy, hence why we used him again.
Greetham Bradley -extremely milky
Wouldn’t have thought Bradley’s would be extremely milky with him being -276, what are they giving?

Half of the heifer comes from the cow don't forget.
have to check when i am in dairy,
It does, Just that chads were average when he’s plus on milk and Bradley’s sound more milky than patrol who has +248 and the Bradley very milky when he’s over -200 on milk. Just curios that’s all, what are the dams by

According to their proofs there should be 500 l between the Bradleys and the Patrols, interestingly they are both negative for condition score which often tells you as much as the actual milk figures.
Never used Patrol as his pedigree has my 3 favorite bulls in Panetella, Glenalbyn and Rocket(who we missed but used plenty of sons) so too tight on in breeding.
Have a few daughters as calves now because I was given some by a retiring friend.
