I don't understand why we have come up with a way of measuring a day, dividing it into 24 segments based around when the sun is at it's highest, midday, and the middle of when it's dark, midnight. Then decide that this man made measurement doesn't fit the schedules that we have constructed around it, so instead of doing what we do at the sensible time, we shift the whole concept of time forward an hour to artificially make it feel like the sun rises and sets later.
And midday is suddenly at 1 o'cock in the afternoon!

All our friends in the extreme north will soon be enjoying lots of daylight, regardless of clocks. i suspect after all the dark days of winter they deserve it.

When it was studied total energy used would fall if every day had 1 hour more light in the evening compared to the morning
All students would see 1 hour more daylight
One of the biggest drags on team sports is having no daylight in the evenings during autumn and spring

I've always thought DST was a pansy of an idea, an extra hour of darkness in the morning and can't ge to sleep at night If everyone thinks its a great idea, move trading hours from 8am- 5pm to 7am - 4pm for a year.

If we didn't change the clocks in the Autumn children would be going to school in the dark in Dec & Jan, it's a safety issue.
How many are walking now?
We have hi-viz jackets and head torches nowadays. Besides as fonterra says, we can change our work/school hours easily enough.

Maybe we could have an international effort to explode ALL the nuclear warheads in the world at one time and place to alter the tilt and give a more even daylight distribution.......

Us bears follow a natural rhythm as regards daylight, we get up when it becomes light. This means 8am in winter and 3.30am in summer .
