got an email from "BT",
looks legit, but it's asking me to click on a pink box link to view my account ,which I apparently need to do to accept the changes to my account is putting charges up. failure to login and accept changes will result in my service being temporarily suspended.
what's going on seems odd.

99.99% sure it is a SCAM! What web address does the link take you too? Most likely something like www.somebulshit333d.tinyurl.com hosting a fake BT site PS anyone who does know how to see where a link is directing them to before they click on it should never click email links! Even visiting a compromised site can be dangerous to your computer...

And don't believe senders addresses either they can easily be very easily spoofed! Often you will find the reply address will be to the phishers hotmail or gmail account. I bet if you give me your email address within an hour I can probably spoof an email to you that looks like it came from BT.

I get plenty of scam emails most days, a small number look very convincing! Its not only big companies they spoof... I get fake emails claiming to be from the accounts department of a small company that I work with, someone has carefully targeted their relatively small distributors mailing list.

Scam.

Hover your cursor over the link (but do NOT click it) to reveal it's intended URL.

I get emails all the time from various companies informing me I have an invoice of £27.99 for an item I have bought recently etc etc. It's all a scam.

Keep getting a BT scam email, easy to tell as it uses the word center instead of centre. The scammers need to stop using US english to stand a chance with me !!
