Building footings

Would a hydraulic auger for a digger say 90-120cm wide be suitable for digging building footings. Would probably be quicker and be more efficient on concrete than a square hole. Anyone used anything similar before?

Yeah the motor is rated to take up to 900mm auger bit, but not tried one that big, I guess it would take some driving but the concept seems good. Would probably need the right ground too.
