Bull with a corkscrew penis

Basically we have a new bull to us this year that had to be bought at short notice. Turns out his penis is corkscrewed and when the vet tried to electro-ejaculate him, his rod only slightly pushed out. He got some semen and has tested it to say it's not got much go about it....

thing is he somehow managed to serve 6 out of a group of 22 cows. We had our doubts about him with the number of repeats hence why we tested him and scanned cows. Just wondering has anyone came across this and any ideas how he managed to serve 6.

Should also say that we very rarely seen his rod out.
Thanks

Does the condition not 'develop' so he may have been able to serve the few before it became as bad as it is now.
Seem to recall reading about it in one of the NADIS Bull fertility bulletins. @bovine

Had cow collapse under a bull and that's exactly what happened to him. Vet sewed it up so it couldn't protrude out and hoped it fixed itself, never did so he went for burgers.

Can be congenital or traumatic. The bull naturally does a bit of a twist at the point of ejaculation to spray the semen over the cervix. We were shown a video at college of bulls ejaculating into a clear perspex artificial vagina in slow motion.

It won't get better.

It generally is not related to poor semen quality, but can make getting a quality semen sample difficult. Sometimes the semen can be frozen - remembering the risk this could be congenital.

Some do seem to manage the odd service, often in the older cow - draw your own conclusions from that!

I bet the bull thinks it's VERY traumatic!!!

I also think you and your college chums sound even weirder than David Cameron and his mates

Yea were under no illusions that than is him finished, but unsure if he came with it or if it happened here. Getting 6 young and short cows pregnant makes us think he must have did I it here. Unfortunately there's no real chance of getting money back from the breeder. One of those things I guess. Thanks all

If looking for lessons to learn then get the the new bull tested when you buy him?

Yea many lessons learnt, including buying a bull that had been pushed but at the time we were pressed for a bull and didn't have time to test etc...but in hindsight we should have made time. We bought another younger bull (intentional purchase) a few months before breeding and he has so far turned out to be brilliant so hopefully that continues as he has been promoted to serve the ones this other fella missed. Fingers crossed.
