Bunning floor chains.

Sorry I asked before but now about to shorten them, going try 2 links 1st but might get 4 as I'm right at the end of the adjuster.
Do I cut off the slat where its welded to the chain link and does it matter if the slats are not an even distance apart?

The 2 slats pictured are already closer together than the rest. If you have enough slack to take 4 links out it's probably best to remove one of those slats as it looks like they will be too close together if you try to leave them both in.

Buy a couple more joiner links and do it in a different place. Don’t mess with the slats.

This is how I’ve done them but no idea if it’s the right way, might aswell leave the slats there. Do them underneath near the front, as said chain load binders or ratchet straps to hold everything as close as possible together to get the most adjustment

Best way in my experience. We also put a blob of weld on the joiner to keep the closer plate on, have had split pins fail before and the joiner part.

did a whole re-fit of bunning floor chain a couple of years ago, better to have the slats a bit further apart than too close together as they can nip on the end sprockets, just slacken your adjusters right off pull the slack together with a ouple of ratchet straps then cut out however many links you need to to get the right link to put the joiners in

If them slats are closer together where the existing joiner is can I not put another joiner in where other slats are further apart?
Trouble is even if I take 2 links out where the joiner is I'll be joining onto a chain where the slat welded on, dont know I'd that matters or not but the slats do seem very close together then.

Yes. Put your next joiner as far away from the existing joiner as possible.
