I don't remember anyone else mentioning it but I have never seen so many butterflies as I have seen today, there were thousands around the mower all afternoon, I tried to take a group photo but they were too fast for me so I got a close up of a slow one.

Where are all the people who have been complaining in previous years that butterflies are virtually extinct?

Anyone else noticed?

Yep, lots herecas well. Trouble is ir they like the long grass laid up for hay and everythings getting knocked down atm .... nice dry sunny weather suits them tho no doubt like last year now this again will rebuild numbers i guess. Bad summers affects everything except trees for moisture...,

Yes they concentrated on the 'islands' of long grass as I was mowing and then went to play in the undergrazed cattle field next door and on the margins as I got to the end of things.

I don't think that I killed one though, they were too fast.
